Let's Get Started

First let's learn about the endocannabinoid system (you have one!)

Second, learn more about what trichomes are and why they matter.

What is the entourage effect? (Do I really need more than THC?)

What are the different ways to consume cannabis?

A visual representation of where CB1 and CB2 receptors are found in the body. Cannabinoids like THC are the keys to CB1 receptors, and Cannabinoids like CBN are the keys to CB2 receptors.

The Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is in all mammals and is a major organ system in our bodies. Unfortunately, it is not taught to doctors in medical  school despite being discovered in the 80s and 90s. The endocannabinoid system consists of CB1 and CB2 receptors all over the body. Cannabinoids like THC, CBD & CBN fit into these receptors like a lock and key. Once the system is activated it can finally do its job which is to put our bodies in balance. Cannabinoid deficiencies can lead to your mood, sleep, pain, hormones, gut and/or immune system feeling “off”. Giving cannabinoids back to the system like you would for a vitamin deficiency can help you feel back to balanced.

Learn about Trichomes

Trichomes

Start Here
Trichomes are like little factories that produce terpenes, hundreds of known cannabinoids and flavonoids. Trichomes are what make cannabis strains distinct by their potency, effectiveness, and unique character.

Terpenes

Now let's break it down
Terpenes are aromatic oils that give cannabis specific flavors like pine, citrus, and berry. Terpenes play a key role in defining characteristics of a strain. They challenge indica vs sativa naming conventions.

Cannabinoids

Keep going
Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds in cannabis that help relieve symptoms like inflammation, anxiety, nausea, and pain. They work by mimicking compounds our bodies naturally produce, called endocannabinoids.

Flavonoids

Last part
Flavonoids also affect the pigmentation of cannabis They also contribute to to cannabis' character like terpenes do. These compounds also found in fruits and vegetables are anti-fungal, antioxidant and more.

entourage effect

The Entourage Effect is made of Terpenes Cannabinoids Flavonoids

Smoking or vaping cannabis leads to hundreds of botanical compounds entering our body. Each botanical compound has unique effects, but their behavior can also change in the presence of other compounds. This ability for compound’s behaviors to change in the presence of other compounds is the entourage effect.

For example, your mood may change depending on who you are around. You are likely to behave differently when you’re alone verse when you’re at a big party. Your mood and personality that other people see is different depending on your environment.
